Life Story for Howard E. ""Howie"" Fuller

Howard E. ""Howie"" Fuller
East Greenbush- Howard E. “Howie” Fuller, 85, left for heaven on Wednesday Sept. 5, 2018 surrounded by his wife, children and his loving Evergreen Commons family. Born December 2, 1932 in Adams, NY, he was the son of the late Walter C. Fuller and Ruth Williams Fuller. He was a graduate of Columbia High School in East Greenbush class of 1950. He was married to his wife Barbara Wainman Fuller for 61 years. Howie was
honorably discharged from the US Air Force, where he served his country proudly as a Staff Sergeant from 1950-1954, during the Korean War. While stationed in Japan, he proudly received the award: “Airman of the Month.” He was a long time member of the Melvin Roads American Legion Post #1231 in East Greenbush. He was employed for 35 years at Sterling Drug in both lower and upper plants, retiring when the company moved. The two most memorable honors bestowed upon him were; his induction into the Columbia High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the day Pastor Howard Thompson ordained him as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. From then on, he went quietly about serving his Lord until that cruel disease called Alzheimer’s claimed his mind.
Surviving him besides his wife Barbara “Ann” are his children, Sharon Bilodeau (Brian), David Fuller (Peggy), Gary Fuller (Jean), Lisa Herrington (John) and Theresa “Terri” Fuller by whom he was predeceased. His grandchildren Erica and Sarah Bilodeau, Carol Lynn Goldschmidt-Rosario (Christina), Matthew Fuller, Brian Fuller who predeceased him, Adam and Theresa Fuller, Michael Herrington (Lisa) and Mark Herrington and his two beautiful great grandchildren Jordan Michael Herrington and Asalynn Rosario. Also his two sisters, Barbara Madsen (Dave) and Lori Norkus (Bill) and his dear niece Amy Norkus (Laura).
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Evergreen Commons for the compassionate, kind and loving care they gave Howie and his family for the past year. You guys are the best. Also, to the amazing angels that God raised up to help us in so many ways. You know who you are, we love each and every one of you.
Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer, Tuesday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in East Greenbush Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that you would make a donation in memory of Howie to the Columbia High School Athletics Program, 962 Luther Road, East Greenbush, NY 12061 or Faith and Love Fellowship, 165 Columbia Turnpike Rensselaer, NY 12144.
