Life Story for Edgar J. Knox

Edgar J.  Knox
East Greenbush- Edgar J. Knox, age 79 of East Greenbush passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 with his wife Mary Lou and family by his side. He was born in Lackawanna, NY and was a graduate and class president of Lackawanna High School and graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business Institute. Ed worked for New York State, first in the Department of Motor Vehicles, where he met his wife of 55 years. He retired from the Department of Taxation and Finance after 37 years of service. He was a long time member of the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights where he was a Eucharist Minister, member of the Holy Name Society and a volunteer for countless events at the church and school. He was a life member of the Rensselaer Council #267 K of C and a member of the Over Sixty Bowling League. Ed enjoyed tole painting and trips to Buffalo to deliver hand painted gifts to loved ones.
He is predeceased by: his parents Charles and Ruth Suor Knox, and siblings Robert, Charles (Phylis) Knox, Janice (Joseph) Zawistowski. Ed is survived by: his sister and brother-in-law Nancy and George Crosson. Wife Mary Louise Donohue Knox, Children: Mary Eileen Barret and Philip Johnson, Gregory and Nancy Knox, Molly and Philip Rosano and Katherine and Brendan Pick. Grandchildren: Jeffrey and Jennifer Knox, and John, Julia and Mariana Rosano. Also survived by a large extended family and many friends.
Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Thursday morning at 9:00 and 10:00 at the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights where a funeral mass will be offered. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush at a later date. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Van Rensselaer Manor, B1 for the special care and compassion shown to Ed and his family during his stay. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Pine West Plaza, Bld. 4, Albany, NY 12205 or the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights, 163 Columbia Turnpike Rensselaer, NY 12144.
