Obituary for Leona M. Hargrave (Bradt)

Leona M. Hargrave (Bradt)
ALBANY- Leona Marie Hargrave passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Albany, NY and resided in Rensselaer/East Greenbush, NY. The daughter of Stanley Bradt and Beatrice Wagner. She was the devoted wife of Winfield Hargrave for 53 years who pre-deceased her in 2003. Beloved mother of Gail (David) Hargrave-Smith, Diane (William) Smith and Kathleen (Greg) Proper; grandmother to Lauren, Matthew, Geoffrey, Stephen, Christopher, Tyler and Shawn; great-grandmother to Zera and Chloe. Our love to Aunt Alice and Uncle Ken for always being there for our family.
Leona graduated from Phillip Schuyler High School. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked at the Albany Guardian Society. She loved taking care of her family and giving them health tips. She enjoyed the news, discussing politics, listening to music, watching movies, going out to dinner and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Special thanks to Dr. Richard Ginsburg for always being kind and caring as our family doctor for over 30 years. We would also like to thank the Albany Medical Center Neurosciences D5 East physicians and staff along with the Gastroenterology Division for going above and beyond with their concern to make our mother and our family comfortable. We also wish to thank the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center team for the care they provided over the last year.
A private service will be held on Wednesday at Lyons Funeral Home in Rensselaer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Leona’s name can be made to the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.
